HI EVERYONE! It’s me, Gretl! I am a 6 year-old adorable schnauzer with lots of energy and love to give. I’m pretty excited to be December’s pet of the month and so are my parents! They always support me and tell me how proud they are of me! My mom and dad rescued me from Animal Match Rescue after I was pulled from a high-kill shelter in Long Beach. They found me wandering the streets and I’m so glad Animal Match got me out of the shelter and into a foster home; it was so scary in there! I had a litter of puppies that all got adopted pretty quickly and I was a little nervous about getting adopted myself… but thankfully my parents found me.
It was a bit of an adjustment in my new home because I had such a rough early life. I was pretty nervous and kept my tail between my legs most of the time but a couple weeks in I finally realized this was my forever home. Now I am a happy spoiled girl! I love to run and jump and climb stairs (I’m really good at it). I love people; especially my parents and my walker Marie! I get so excited when I hear her coming in the door I roll over on my back and wait for belly rubs. And sometimes I even get to go on hikes, those are so much fun!!! I’m getting better at interacting with other dogs now too! I’m so happy my parents found Canine Companion LA and I get lots of walks and pets! OH I am obsessed with my treats. I get lots of yummy treats but I still can’t get enough! I also like my sister Maggie. She’s definitely a daddy’s girl and much smaller than me. It took us a while to get used to each other and but now we get along well. We are a big happy family.
I like lots of things but I hate some things too. I’m not a fan of loud noises, like thunderstorms or fireworks. Ugh, I also hate veggies and baths. I get very annoyed with my mom when she tries to give them to me. But I mostly get only the good stuff from my parents. They make me feel like a princess even though they call me their little monster 🙂 I am so happy to have a family to call my own.
