At Canine Companion LA we love to take our dogs out and about with us whenever possible. It can be hard to say no to those puppy eyes as we walk out the door and the next thing we know there’s a furry passenger in our car! It’s becoming easier to take our dogs with us too. More and more places are welcoming dogs, even restaurants (outside only). The best part is many places even have a secret menu for dogs. If you’re having a hard time deciding where to eat, let your dog decide!
It’s always cool ordering off a secret menu at any establishment but a secret menu for dogs?! That’s just irresistible. Starbucks has coined their “Puppuccino” and it became an overnight Internet hit! People and their dogs started getting flocking to get their coffee and a special puppuccino for their pup. It’s basically just a cup of whipped cream but most dogs can’t get enough. We recommend caution as this is not a very healthy snack for any dog, especially one with a sensitive stomach, but it is a fun occasional treat. If you’re heading home from a hike with your furry friend and stop to get your coffee grab them a puppuccino and everyone is happy (although your pup was probably already happy). Not all locations serve this off-menu item so you may want to call and check before your pup gets their hopes up!
What’s one of the best things about Southern California? In-N-Out! We have a bunch of them and they adored by many. How cruel is it to drive thru and let your dogs smell the deliciousness but never get a taste! In-N-Out has a secret menu, that most know about by now, but did you know they have a secret menu for dogs? Next time order something for your pup. The most popular is the “Puppy patty”; a non-seasoned beef patty. It may be a little greasy but it’s bound to be a hit with the dogs! You can also order the “Flying Dutchman”; two beef patties and two slices of cheese. I can’t imagine any dog turning this down! If In-N-Out isn’t your style you can always hit up a Shake Shack location nearby and get your pup a “Pooch-ini”; dog biscuits, peanut butter sauce, and vanilla custard. They also have a bag of bones you can buy there. It’s a win-win!
If you’re craving a sweet treat you might want to head over to Sprinkles cupcakes. You’ll have quite an assortment to pick from for yourself and you can get your pup a “Doggie cupcake”. They are adorable little cupcakes are made from honey, whole-wheat flour, vanilla and egg with yogurt frosting. They do have a tendency to sell out so make sure you get there early! If Sprinkles doesn’t do it for you (or your dog- not everyone likes cupcakes) try Dairy Queen. You can order a “Pup Cup” for your dog, which has soft serve vanilla ice cream in a cup. Order two and you can be twinning with your dog!
Think of all the adorable instagram pictures you could be taking! Think of how happy your pup will be! This is great list to keep for birthdays and other celebrations for your dog because why not?!
